My fiance spilled red fruit punch all over our tan carpet (we have an apartment). At the time it happened I didn’t have any cleaner left so I rushed out and got some carpet cleaner. It didn’t work. I’ve tried home remedies such as a white wash cloth soaked in dawn with an iron applied (to get the color to wick up into the cloth) and peroxide, but nothing seems to budge the color. In fact, the stain is still there and it’s been months. I tried a variety of name brand cleaners. Is there some secret I don’t know about or am I going to have to pay for steam cleaning (so I can get my damage deposit back)?

Hey guys, have a question for ya. A wool suit of mine has some wrinkles in it. I don’t really have time to take it to the cleaners, so I was wondering if I ran the shower extra hot in my bathroom and got the entire room really steamy, and hung the suit up in the room, away from the water of course, will that help smooth out some of the wrinkles? I have heard that you can do it, but I don’t want to ruin my suit. Any advice would be great!
Thanks

I have a gown that is a couple years old. Over time it has gotten a dingy look to it. There aren’t really stains, just an overall darkening of color (maybe yellowing).
The tag says not to apply heat or steam and NOT to dry clean. The only option it gives is to spot clean with cold water and mild soap.
But I need to clean the whole dress, so I don’t know how to apply those rules to cleaning the entire thing. I’m really afraid of ruining the dress trying to figure this out on my own and I don’t trust the dry cleaners around here as I’ve had clothes ruined before.
The dress is 100% silk and 100% polyester (lining and beaded overlay)
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thank you!!

Hi,
have been periodically scrubbing at it but really don’t want to risk unravelling the fibers.
it’s a tan carpet and a light brown circle.
are there any carpet cleaners that will not cause color issues, and will work on old stains?
how good is a steam cleaner? where do i rent one? how much?
which is better, the stain remover or the steam cleaner?
Thanks!
ps, have tried vinegar, and oxiclean bleaches this carpet. it’s very humid here now and i don’t want to grow mold or mildew so i hesitate at dumping a pile of hot water on it with no way to dry it – no hair drier, no dehumidifier, just towels.

Hey! I just purchased a Hoover Steam Vac (it works amazingly!!). I’ve been doing my living room in thirds because I live in an appartment and I have to rearrange the furniture to make a “clear path” for the carpet to be cleaned. However, there is one piece of furniture I really can’t move (it’s incredibly heavy). Would it be okay to go around it with the steam vac and like use the hand held attachment around it? Or should I ideally find someone to help me move it? Also, if I do have to move it, how soon can it be moved back? Do you have to put foil under it (its wood) to prevent staining (I don’t know if that’s true or not)
Also, my carpet is a dark green color, if that matters…ha!
Also – I used the bottle of Hoover Deep Cleaning that came with the steam vac, but its all used up. Stores around here only seem to carry resolve, oxy, and bissell carpet cleaners – any suggestions on good ones that don’t have a lot of perfumes?
Thanks in advance! 10points to best answer!
Additional Details
Okay, I did get the furniture moved (asked a neighbor to help), and steam cleaned that area and did several extra dry sweeps to get up excess water….how long should I wait to move the furniture back? How can you tell if carpet is REALLY dry – is dry to the touch really indicative of this?

My daughter spilt red juice on our carpet yesterday and I have tried tirelessly to get it out, but have not been successful. I have tried stain remover, Resolve and a steam cleaner. I have the frieze carpet and it seems to remain at the bottom of the strands only…it has come out of the top of the strand. Is there anything you could recommend to get to the bottom of the strand and lift the rest of the juice out of the carpet. It is brand new carpet. It seems to look like a pink spot in the middle of the room. Any suggestions?????? Desperately in need of some ways to clean this. I have already steam cleaned it 3 x yesterday and soaked it with the cleaners. I have scrubbed, blotted and dabbed……A huge thanks for some ideas on how to clean up this mess.
