My Cat Got Sick And Now There’s A Stain On The Carpet I Can’t Get Out?
Hi,
have been periodically scrubbing at it but really don’t want to risk unravelling the fibers.
it’s a tan carpet and a light brown circle.
are there any carpet cleaners that will not cause color issues, and will work on old stains?
how good is a steam cleaner? where do i rent one? how much?
which is better, the stain remover or the steam cleaner?

ps, have tried vinegar, and oxiclean bleaches this carpet. it’s very humid here now and i don’t want to grow mold or mildew so i hesitate at dumping a pile of hot water on it with no way to dry it – no hair drier, no dehumidifier, just towels.

Steam cleaners never worked for me. You can go to grocery stores and rent one for about $40 a day where I live. That’s alot to me. My cat threw up all the time. I hate to tell you but Oxiclean worked wonders for me, otherwise I just took dish soap and scrubbed the heck out of it until it came out.
You might be able to rent a steam cleaner from Lowes or Home Depot.
When my cat gets sick we use a simple carpet cleaner then soak the area with warm water and towel dry it (blot it, rather).
Try Resolve spot carpet cleaner. It has always worked for me without damaging the color.
Stain remover called KIDS & Pets. got it at Kmart works great.
This method has worked WONDERS for me. I have gotten out old kool aid stains, dogs accidents, and brown stains from my light beige carpet.
wet the area with warm water and drops of cleansing alcohol 1ts and scrub in , then get a face towel, dampen it.
Fold it in half
Place over area.
Get a second face towel, fold it in half and place on top of first towel.
Now get your iron on high, and place on the towels stack, and press down hard and keep pressing the steam selection.
and lift periodically to check.
